  1. Asanté Installers for Power Macintoshes with PCI slot(s).

  3. This diskette contains installers for both the AsantéFAST 10/100 PCI adapter card and the 10Mbps AsantéNIC-PCI adapter card. Ensure you use the correct installer for your card!
  4.  
  5. Please use the Installer, rather than dragging the drivers to and from the System Folder. The installer will automatically remove any old Asanté drivers before installing the newest one. Not using the Installer may result in both the old and new driver (with a different name) residing in the System Folder…this will lead to poor performance.

  7. The two utilities, "Asanté TroubleShooter for PCI" and "Asanté ADLS for PCI", are contained in the folder named "Utility Folder". You may copy these two utilities to your hard disk before running them.

  9. Quick-start directions:
  10.  
  11. • Install the adapter card in your Macintosh, following the instructions in your Installation Guide.
  12. • Start your Macintosh and then insert the Asanté Driver Disk. Double-click the disk icon and then open the folder named "Power Macintosh".

  14. If you are installing an AsantéFAST 10/100 PCI adapter card:

  16. • Double click the icon named "AsantéFAST Installer" and follow the instructions.
  17. • Restart your Macintosh. Connect to your network and networked devices as shown in your Installation Guide.

  19. If you are installing an AsantéNIC-PCI adapter card:

  21. • Double click the icon named "AsantéNIC Installer" and follow the instructions.
  22. • Restart your Macintosh. Connect to your network and networked devices as shown in your Installation Guide.

  24. If you are connecting an Asanté PCI adapter directly to an Ethernet or Fast Ethernet Switch with no auto-negotiation and you are planning to operate in FULL DUPLEX mode:

  26. • Open the “Asanté Ethernet Options” control panel
  27. • Select the “Full Duplex mode” radio button and close the control panel
  28. • Restart your Power Macintosh
  29.  
  30. Note: Your Switch must support Full Duplex mode in order to use the Asanté PCI adapter in Full Duplex mode.
